Welcome to Tanzania!

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you'll be warmly welcomed by a representative from African Hiking Tours and Safaris and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. After check-in, take time to relax and recover from your journey while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro.

In the evening, you'll meet your professional mountain guide for a detailed pre-climb briefing. During this meeting, your guide will review the itinerary, inspect your climbing equipment, discuss safety procedures, and answer any questions you may have before your Kilimanjaro adventure begins.

If you require any rental equipment, it can be arranged before departure.

After an early breakfast, your mountain guide and climbing team will pick you up from your hotel and drive to Londorossi Gate on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro. After completing all park registration formalities, continue by vehicle to the Lemosho Trailhead, where your adventure officially begins.

Today's trek takes you through the lush rainforest, one of the most beautiful sections of Mount Kilimanjaro. Surrounded by towering trees, colorful birds, and black-and-white colobus monkeys, you'll enjoy a peaceful introduction to Africa's highest mountain while your body begins acclimatizing naturally.

Arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp (Big Tree Camp) in the afternoon, where your tents will already be prepared by the mountain crew. Enjoy a freshly prepared dinner before spending your first night beneath the mountain's rainforest canopy.

Route: 8 Days Lemosho Route

Elevation: 2,100 m to 2,650 m

Distance: 6 km (3.7 miles)

Hiking Time: 3–4 Hours

Accommodation: Mti Mkubwa Camp

After breakfast, leave the rainforest behind as you enter the heath and moorland zone. The landscape changes dramatically, offering wide-open views, volcanic formations, and giant heather vegetation unique to Mount Kilimanjaro.

As you gain altitude, enjoy spectacular views of Mount Meru on clear days while your guide maintains a slow, steady pace to encourage proper acclimatization.

Arrive at Shira 1 Camp in the afternoon, where you can relax, enjoy a hot meal, and admire one of Kilimanjaro's most beautiful sunsets.

Elevation: 2,650 m to 3,610 m

Distance: 8 km (5 miles)

Hiking Time: 5–6 Hours

Accommodation: Shira 1 Camp

Today's trek is relatively gentle, allowing your body to continue adapting to the increasing altitude while crossing the magnificent Shira Plateau, one of the largest high-altitude plateaus in the world.

The trail offers incredible panoramic views of Kibo Peak, distant glaciers, and the surrounding volcanic landscape. Along the way, your guide will explain the unique ecosystems found on Mount Kilimanjaro and the importance of proper acclimatization.

After arriving at Shira 2 Camp, enjoy a warm dinner and prepare for tomorrow's important acclimatization hike.

Distance: 7 km (4.3 miles)

Hiking Time: 3–4 Hours

Today is one of the most important days of your Kilimanjaro climb because it follows the proven acclimatization strategy of "climb high, sleep low."

After breakfast, ascend gradually through the alpine desert towards Lava Tower (4,630 m), where you'll stop for lunch while enjoying spectacular mountain views. Spending time at this higher elevation helps your body adapt before descending to a lower altitude for the night.

Continue down into the beautiful Barranco Valley, famous for its giant senecio plants and breathtaking scenery. Many climbers consider Barranco Camp one of the most scenic campsites on the entire mountain.

Today's hike plays a major role in increasing your chances of successfully reaching Uhuru Peak.

Elevation: 3,850 m to 4,630 m then down to 3,960 m

Distance: 10 km (6.2 miles)

Hiking Time: 7–8 Hours

Accommodation: Barranco Camp

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Wake up to spectacular views before beginning your climb up the famous Barranco Wall. Although it may appear intimidating from below, this exciting section is non-technical and safely guided by your experienced mountain team.

After reaching the top, you'll be rewarded with incredible views of the Heim Glacier, Kibo Peak, and the surrounding valleys before continuing across rolling alpine terrain toward Karanga Camp.

Today's shorter hiking distance allows extra time for rest and acclimatization before moving to the final high camp tomorrow.

Elevation: 3,960 m to 4,035 m

Distance: 5 km (3.1 miles)

Hiking Time: 4–5 Hours

Accommodation: Karanga Camp

After breakfast, continue your ascent across the alpine desert towards Barafu Camp, the final campsite before your summit attempt. The landscape becomes more rugged and dramatic, with sparse vegetation giving way to rocky terrain and breathtaking views of Kibo Peak.

Upon arrival at Barafu Camp, enjoy a hot lunch before settling into your tent for some much-needed rest. Later in the afternoon, your mountain guide will conduct a comprehensive summit briefing, ensuring you're physically and mentally prepared for the climb to Uhuru Peak.

After an early dinner, you'll retire to your tent for a few hours of sleep before beginning the most exciting part of your Kilimanjaro adventure shortly before midnight.

Elevation: 4,035 m to 4,640 m

Distance: 4 km (2.5 miles)

Hiking Time: 3–4 Hours

Accommodation: Barafu Camp

Around midnight, you'll begin your summit attempt under a sky filled with countless stars. Moving slowly and steadily with the support of your experienced mountain guides, you'll climb towards Stella Point before continuing to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m)—the highest point in Africa.

Watching the sunrise from the Roof of Africa is an unforgettable moment and the reward for days of determination and preparation. Take time to celebrate your achievement, capture memorable photographs, and admire the glaciers and breathtaking panoramic views before beginning your descent.

After returning to Barafu Camp for a short rest and lunch, continue descending through changing ecological zones to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.

Elevation: 4,640 m to 5,895 m then down to 3,100 m

Distance: Approximately 17 km (10.5 miles)

Hiking Time: 12–15 Hours

Accommodation: Mweka Camp

Enjoy your final breakfast on Mount Kilimanjaro before descending through the beautiful rainforest to Mweka Gate. Along the way, take in the sights and sounds of the forest one last time as you celebrate completing one of the world's most iconic trekking adventures.

At Mweka Gate, you'll receive your official Mount Kilimanjaro Summit Certificate before meeting your driver for the transfer back to Moshi.

After checking into your hotel, enjoy a hot shower, relax, and celebrate your incredible achievement with your climbing team.

After breakfast, your adventure continues as you travel to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania's most beautiful wildlife destinations. Famous for its giant baobab trees and large elephant herds, Tarangire offers an incredible introduction to Tanzania's Northern Safari Circuit.

Enjoy a full-day game drive in a private 4×4 safari Land Cruiser while searching for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, antelopes, warthogs, and hundreds of bird species.

Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park before continuing your afternoon wildlife safari. As the sun begins to set, drive to your carefully selected safari lodge for dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast, depart for the world-famous Serengeti National Park, passing through the breathtaking Ngorongoro Highlands along the way.

Arrive in Serengeti in time for an afternoon game drive across its endless golden plains. Home to the Great Migration and an extraordinary concentration of wildlife, Serengeti offers outstanding opportunities to spot lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, buffaloes, and countless other animals in their natural habitat.

As the African sun sets over the savannah, continue to your safari lodge for dinner and overnight.

Wake up early to experience one of Africa's greatest wildlife destinations at its most active. After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive across the endless plains of Serengeti National Park, where every corner offers the possibility of an unforgettable wildlife encounter.

Depending on the season, you may witness the world-famous Great Migration, where thousands of wildebeests and zebras move across the plains in search of fresh grazing. Throughout the day, your experienced safari guide will help you track lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, hyenas, and an incredible variety of birdlife.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic location inside the park before continuing your afternoon game drive. As the sun begins to set over the Serengeti, return to your lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

After an early breakfast, depart Serengeti and travel towards the spectacular Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend approximately 600 meters into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa's most remarkable wildlife destinations and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Enjoy an unforgettable game drive across the crater floor, where you'll have an excellent chance of spotting the Big Five—including the rare black rhinoceros—along with lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, flamingos, and countless other wildlife species.

After a picnic lunch beside the hippo pool, ascend the crater and continue your journey back to Arusha for an overnight stay before your flight to Zanzibar.

After breakfast, transfer to Arusha Airport for your scheduled domestic flight to the beautiful island of Zanzibar.

Upon arrival, our representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your beachfront resort. After check-in, spend the remainder of the day relaxing beside the Indian Ocean, swimming in crystal-clear waters, or simply enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of Zanzibar's world-famous beaches.

After days of adventure on the mountain and safari, today offers the perfect opportunity to unwind in one of Africa's most beautiful island destinations.

Enjoy breakfast before discovering the cultural heart of Zanzibar with a guided tour of historic Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich Swahili culture, narrow streets, vibrant markets, and centuries-old architecture.

Later, visit one of Zanzibar's famous spice farms, where you'll experience why the island is known worldwide as the "Spice Island." Learn about cloves, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, black pepper, and many other spices while enjoying fresh tropical fruits.

Return to your beach resort in the afternoon, where you can relax by the ocean or enjoy optional activities such as snorkeling, diving, sunset dhow cruises, or simply watching the sunset over the Indian Ocean.
